We have developed 3 Waste Management Facilities (Mitcham, Purfleet, Shepperton) where we process vast amounts of recyclable materials every year. Our aim is to extract as much value from the waste as possible by separating and recycling as much as we can.
We have the systems in place to run site-by-site reports and generate tonnage break down for each specific waste product.
With a large and flexible transport fleet, we can provide a bespoke collection service to suit all your recycling needs.
The main materials that we recycle are:
All types of plastic are 100% recyclable through our recycling partners.
There are in excess of 50 different groups of plastics with hundreds of different varieties incorporated within.
All types are recyclable however the extent to which they are recycled depends upon economic and logistic factors. Recycled plastic is widely used in mainstream construction products such as damp-proof membrane, drainage pipes, ducting and flooring, it is also a fantastic product to be used for re-usable energy. The recycled material is also used in innovative products such as scaffolding boards or kerbstones where its durability and weight has significant health and safety benefits.
With our shredding facility, at our recycling centre in Purfleet, we are now able to help our clients divert wood waste from landfill by recycling it into a variety of re-useable products.
In addition, we encourage our customers to deliver their own segregated wood waste, be it wooden packing crates, pallets or unwanted timber from construction and demolition sites. Once this is done then Killoughery will recycle the wood for use in other products.
The process of recycling involves shredding, screening and metal segregation. The timber is shredded to a more manageable portions; it is then transported to another recycling facility for other potential uses, including fuel, landscape chips, animal bedding and wooden screens and panels.
One of the largest components of the commercial waste stream is paper and paper based materials. Cardboard and other types of packaging form the largest single proportion of the UK’s commercial waste stream – over 8 million tonnes of waste cardboard and paper are sent for disposal each year.
We provide paper-recycling services to a wide spectrum of businesses. As part of this service provision Killoughery can offer a range of equipment for secure shredding of paper at our customers’ premises, from paper trim extraction systems, balers and compactors at printers’ premises, to skips and individual office recycling bins.
