Recycled Aggregates

Recycled Aggregates are made from material which is usually recovered from demolition projects then crushed, screened and/or washed to produce the required grading. Generally recycled aggregates are cheaper than quarried aggregates although this does not make them any less suitable. Many recycled products are certificated ensuring they comply with the strictest building regulations.

Recycled Sub-Base Aggregates We have a selection of recycled sub-base aggregates suited to different applications. These sub-base aggregates are often cheaper than their quarried equivalents and have similar technical specification. Many of the recycled sub base aggregates available are fully certificated enabling them to be used on most construction projects.

Road Planings/Scalpings, Also known as Crushed Tarmac, Tarmac Scalpings, Crushed Asphalt, Road Scrapings, Road Scalpings, Tarmac Chippings consists of an aggregate produced by a cold milling machine. The machine is used to remove the surface layer of a paved area such as a road or footpath. The resulting waste is loaded into a lorry and is officially known as road planings although many refer to them as road scalpings or road scrapings. Road Planings are not suitable as backfill for drainage trenches due to the high fines content and care must be taken when sourcing road planings as older tarmac surfaces which have been deep planed may contain tars. The use of Road Planings is generally considered environmentally sound as Bitumen is a natural substance and the use of Road Planings reduces pressure on quarried aggregate stocks. Ideal for: Hard-standings, haul roads, building sub-bases, path/road/highway/driveway/patio sub-bases, farm tracks.
